Witch Bottles for Practical Magic
Afternoon workshop – Tanya Moulding
Since the middle ages, people in England have made witch bottles for protection against bad luck, curses and misfortune. This workshop introduces the historic witch bottle with its construction using nails, urine and fingernail clippings — and the grim tales of psychic attack it would repel. The class then turns to look at modern versions of the bottle, which use flower petals, flower oils and items to concentrate and activate your positive intentions. Each person will create and decorate their own personalised witch bottle for a magical aim, using the knowledge just learnt. All supplies are included and you take home what you make in class. Max 16 per class.
Tutor Tanya Moulding (‘The Perfume Mistress’) is an expert in historic scents, oils and perfumes with a special interest in folk magic practices. A warm and friendly teacher, she presents workshops and demonstrations around the UK at historic sites, including National Trust buildings. She is a regular Treadwell’s tutor.
