About The Event

For those new to magic and paganism, the huge variety of paths can feel overwhelming.

In this class for beginners, a longstanding practitioner gives a comprehensive introduction to the main movements of ‘modern paganism’. Expect to learn about Gardnerian and Alexandrian Wicca, Heathenry, Traditional Witchcraft, ceremonial magic and chaos magic. There will also be plenty of history about the pioneering figures who helped to shape these movements, with some myth-busting along the way. By the end, participants will have a solid understanding of the differences between the paths, and how to go about choosing one (or more).

The 'Ways Into Witchcraft' series is dedicated to introducing beginners to the main pagan paths, with a particular focus on witchcraft and Wicca. The other events in the series are: Initiatory vs Solitary Wicca (13 May), Where Wicca Came From (3 June), Introduction to Magical Ritual (17 Jun) and Witchcraft’s Big Ideas (15 July).

Rebecca Beattie has spent over two decades practising witchcraft. A Wiccan priestess of 15 years, she has a rich understanding of the history and traditions underpinning pagan practice. She also has a doctorate in Creative Writing and is a published author. Her books include Wheel of the Year: A Nurturing Guide and the upcoming pagan toolkit for navigating major life changes, The Way Through the Woods. Warm, inclusive and knowledgeable, she's a joy to learn from. Website: www.rebeccabeattie.co.uk
