Meeting the Daimon - Lecture

This live illustrated lecture introduces the idea of the daimon, a personal spirit which is also one's destiny. It has a long history and many forms, with examples found among the ancient Greeks, Chaldeans, Zoroastrians, and even medieval Christians. Some prominent figures in history felt they were guided by their daimon, as recently as poet W.B. Yeats and psychologist James Hillman, who wrote that 'each life is formed by its unique image, an image that is the essence of that life and calls it to a destiny. As the force of fate, this image acts as a personal daimon'. Cat Rose Neligan is a gifted, entrancing speaker – she traces and unpacks the daimon over the centuries, also inviting viewers to consider it in terms of their own lives.
