About The Event

Tonight a   forensic psychology researcher opens up the world of evil and the human psyche. Before the Enlightenment, mental illness was often mistaken for demonic possession or attack by occult forces. Mercifully those days are long gone. But human evil remains an intriguing, if dark, puzzle. Christie Tetreault's (NUI Galway) research has focused on psychopaths, narcissists, sadists and Machiavelian personalities (the Dark Tetrad), and tonight she shares her insights through the research and real-world examples of this unsettling world. Join us to learn about the inner workings of people who are 'evil', but for whom the cause is not occult but rather human, all too human.

Christie Tetreault is a doctoral researcher with a focus on forensic psychology at the National University of Ireland, Galway. She is an active scholar who enjoys speaking to students, undergraduates and non-specialist audiences about the latest understandings of the darker sides of the human psyche.
