Hartley, born 1897, published this book with methods and insights to allow the reader to themselves go back and attain memories of past lives. This practice of past life regression became common -- even standard - in the Western mystery orders over the course of the 20th century. A member of Dion Fortune's Society of the Inner Light, Hartley wrote this book from workings she performed with fellow SIL member, Charles Seymour; an account of these experiences (and thus the background to this book) is related in Dancers to the Gods. An important testament to the Dion Fortune legacy.
