Folk songs for the wheel of the year, by Colin Cater, Essex musician and folklorist for over forty years.
This is a CD and book set, consisting largely of folk songs in which Colin Cater celebrates the wheel of the year, which is of course a cycle essential to Paganism in Britain. Cater brings his many years of research into English customs, ceremonies, dance and songs to the album, which is a rich combination of old and new.
The title song was made famous by Pete Coe, and there are songs for Essex like 'Change at Thorpe le Soken', and 'Steam with Santa'. There are also some original songs, performed by him and Karen Cater. Also on the album are Mary Humphreys and Anahata and Dave Holland.
