Cockney Visionary - Stephen Pochin
This volume arose out of the important retrospective exhibition of Austin Osman Spare at London's Cuming Museum in November 2010.
The exhibition effectively put Spare back on the map for the mainstream art world. Curator Steve Pochin's programme of talks during the week of the exhibition was memorable, the speakers being acknowledged world experts. This volume reproduces in colour many of the pieces shown, along with the lecture essays. It is an historic work, capturing an important moment in esoteric art. With the book also comes a DVD documentary: The Bones Go Last: The Seven Ages of Austin Osman Spare by Richard Millington and Thomas Oldham. Book subtitle: 'Featuring several essays and a catalogue of art works by hisself in the Southwark Art Collection.'
