Iamblichus On the Mysteries - Thomas Taylor
Thomas Taylor (1758-1835) was the first English translator of the works of Plato, Aristotle, Plotinus and the later Platonists. This present volume comprises of 'Iamblichus On the Mysteries of the Egyptians, Chaldeans, and Assyrians' and 'The Life of Pythagoras'. The former work is one of the most famous of the ancient expositions of the practices of divination and divine theurgy, whilst the latter is a thorough philosophical biography of this great soul and his works. Also included is 'Ethical and Political Fragments of the Pythagoreans' which applies Pythagorean thought to the problems of philosophy and the ethical life of the soul.
