On the Gods and the World - Thomas Taylor
Thomas Taylor (1758-1835) was the first English translator of the works of Plato, Aristotle, Plotinus and the later Platonists. Collected Writings on the Gods and the World brings together a selection of works by Sallust and the Emperor Julian which attempt to express the philosophical basis for the ancient religion of the Classical World. The works include The Pythagoric Sentences of Demophilius, the Two Orations of Julius, Taurus on the Eternity of the World to the Treatise of Synesius on Providence and Taylor's own On the Theology of the Greeks.
