For this issue of Sabat, editor Elizabeth Krohn has made a small format hardback book dedicated to the 19th century artist Hilma af Klint, whose works were largely unshown until recently. A moving dedication essay opens the book, before Krohn showcases six young artists: Cherry Lazar, Matthias Garcia, Maria Torres, Uhuru-Mathari, Luna Ece Bal and, finally, the duo of Camille Tallent and Lia Pradal. Their work is beautifully reproduced, and their answers to questions are creatively presented. What does 'witch' meant to you?' is one of the questions The trademark features of a Sabat periodical are here, from the poetic epigrammatic writing to the haunting visuals, to the innovative layout. The cover features six sigils, printed in gilt, which were devised by Nicole Bettencourt Coelho, known to many of our customers as she kindly donates her time here at evening events. A wonderful item.
