This new British Library Anthology illuminates Scotland’s literary heritage with a keen focus on the folkloric and the supernatural.

This anthology includes eighteen tales of the strange and unusual from the Scottish literary tradition. Haunting and gothic, the stories selected for this book present atmospheric narratives that transport the reader to Scotland’s wild landscape. From moor to sea, this book contains literary gems from beloved authors such as Robert Louis Stevenson and John Buchanan, alongside lesser-known voices. Two of the pieces included in this book have been translated from Scots Gaelic.
