This book by the well loved occultists who were, sub rosa, the heads of Gerald Gardner's surviving coven which was originally based in Bricket Wood. For their wider pagan practice they wrote these fifteen evocations to Greek and Egyptian gods, their aim being to draw out particular qualities in the ritualists -- hence 'evocations' rather than 'invocations.' Stunningly beautiful poetry, these works have become popular with English ritualists in handfastings and open ceremonies. An insightful introductory essay by Jean Williams should not be overlooked.
Evocations: Aphrodite, Apollo, Ares, Artemis, Athene, Dionysus, Hermes, Magna Mater, Pan, Persephone, Zeus, Bast, Nut, Sekhmet, the Morrigan.
This book was launched at Treadwells in February 2009, and the authors are dear friends. Jean Williams founded and ran Pagan Pathfinders for 35 years, and Zachary Cox founded and edited the occult journal Aquarian Arrow, which was a staple text of the British alternative scene through the 1970s and 1980s. They founded and ran The Companions of the Rainbow Bridge and pioneered in the UK the revival of the performance of Crowley's Gnostic Mass.
