This book is a translation in modern English of an epic poem composed by Aelia Eudocia Augusta in the 5th century.
 
The translation included in this edition of The Martyrdom of Saint Cyprian is new, and was completed by Paul Summers Young based on the definitive modern Italian translation. Young presents the poem in modern English to best capture the mood of the work.
