In this wonderful collection Phil explores chakras in the Indian tantric tradition, then looks at their transmission to the West. Within these for booklets, he addresses tantra in India, the work of Madame Blavatsky and Theosophy, early translations of tantric texts into English ('Arthur Avalon' etc) as well as the writings of Aleister Crowley. Hine then covers the influence of psychological approaches to the chakras and how the psychological turn has affected religion and self-making, and how contemporary understandings of chakras have been shaped by psychology. Each booklet has concludes with extensive notes, bibliography and pointers for further research. The series arose from a set of lectures givenat Treadwell's in 2018-2019. based on Hine's long and ongoing research into the subject. All copies are signed by the author.
