Four plays by John Constable, London-based playwright, poet, performer, community activist and historian. He has achieved note for his mystery pageant play, Southwark Mysteries, which was performed at the Globe and at Southwark Cathedral. Treadwell’s is proud to count him as a friend, and in 2013 he premiered his one-man play SPARE in our venue. Here are four plays of shamanic power, reflecting constable’s remarkable stagecraft and language.
Dead Man’s Handle
The False Hairpiece
John Constable read English at Cambridge University, after which he travelled widely through Europe and the Far East with various theatre groups before settling in Southwark. He is much-loved also for his work at Cross Bones Graveyard in Southwark.
