About The Event
This exciting lecture/ seminar is dedicated to the history of alchemy as part of the Western Esoteric Traditions. Fundementally, alchemy arose from metallurgical practices with a sacerdotal dimension, and as it travelled through the centuries, it came to embody a symbolic perception of nature. Idividual practitioners undertook proto-scientific experimentation which was at the same time a practice of philosophical and spiritual self-development. Visually arresting, it speaks in enigmatic emblems and mysterious symbols . Sasha Chaitow introduces key landmarks in alchemy's history, and touches on where it interacted with other esoteric philosophies. She summarises its key points of significance, its core principles, and its impact on later occultism. Â
How it works. Before the seminar date (12 April) you will listen to Dr Sasha Chaitow's pre-recorded lecture and read through some source texts, both of which will be emailed to you in the preceding week. When  you join the online 2.5-hour seminar, you will be discussing in small groups in Zoom 'breakout rooms' and also sharing with the whole group. The discussions are based off the lecture and readings, so please allow time to look at these in the preceding week. Sasha hosts Q&A the start and end.
