About The Event

In this 3-session workshop, Julian Vayne examines the history of chaos magic before diving into its core magical methods. These include meditation, bodywork, reality shifting, spirit work, banishing rituals and much more. Participants are given the chance to experience a variety of gnosis states, try multiple techniques of operative or ‘results-based’ magic and create servitor spirits. There is also an opportunity to learn how chaos magic relates to emerging technologies (such as AI), as well as ancient occult traditions. Time for questions and sharing experience is included.

Rising in the late 20th century, chaos magic fuses modern scientific thinking, postmodern culture-engineering, Discordian principles, Terry Pratchett, the occulture of the Western Magical Tradition and the DIY ethos of the counterculture. It is grounded on the twin ideas of gnosis (inducing and managing altered states of awareness) and paradigm shifting (using multiple perspectives of belief).

Expect a delicious blend of theory and practice from the cutting edge of occulture. Suitable for magical novices and adepts alike.

Julian Vayne is an occultist with over 35 years’ experience. His work is informed by chaos magic, Wicca and Tantra. A regular workshop leader and speaker, Julian is also a co-organiser of the psychedelic conference 'Breaking Convention', and he sits on the board of The Journal of Psychedelic Studies. His books, essays and articles are published in both the academic and esoteric press.
