About The Event
Folk magic is the spell craft of, and for, the common people – using natural materials, found objects, repurposed religious liturgy and symbolic action to create a unique and ever-evolving flavour.
In this online workshop, Julian Vayne takes students on a grand tour of British folk magic, from prehistory to the present day. The group delves into various regional practices and what has influenced them, exploring how folk magic has been understood by both researchers and practitioners. Finally, Julian provides an array of homespun spells from across Britain for students to try at home. Recommended for all those who are beguiled by folk magic, and interested in weaving its charms into a personal practice.
