About The Event
Join us for an evening with Gary Lachman exploring the intersections of rock, creativity and the occult from the 1970s to the 1990s.
In this in-person conversation on the Treadwell’s sofa, the writer and former Blondie musician reflects on the mystical threads running through his life and work. Drawing on the New York rock scene and decades of research into Western esotericism, he shares stories from the crossroads of music and magic. Expect tales of West Coast Thelema adventures, California Gurdjieff work and encounters with Russian ghost literature, alongside reflections on the inner life. The evening celebrates the publication of Lachman’s new memoir Touched by the Presence: From Blondie’s Bowery and Rock and Roll to Magic and the Occult (Inner Traditions, 2026). A Q&A follows, with drinks and book signing afterwards.
Gary Lachman is a London-based writer on Western esotericism, consciousness and the history of ideas. The author of more…
