About The Event
Staff at the British Museum have long whispered of seeing apparitions in the corridors late at night. Undocumented until now, these sightings have been detailed in a new book.
In this interview on the Treadwell's sofa, author Noah Angell talks with Christina Oakley Harrington and an intimate audience. Questions of cursed objects and colonialism arise, as do reflections on the museum as a Temple to Muses, and therefore a kind of temple to spirits – even pagan gods. If you are drawn by ghosts, late-night spooks or museums, this night is for you.
A soirée on the shopfloor follows the talk, with complimentary wine and soft drinks. Noah will be joining us and signing copies of his new book, Ghosts of the British Museum (Octopus Books), a handsome hardback normally priced at £20.
