About The Event
It’s widely believed that solitary witchcraft and initiatory Wicca are mutually exclusive paths. Yet, most initiated witches also have an active solo practice.
In this class, a longstanding practitioner gives an overview of both routes, covering where they cross over and diverge. Participants learn about the history of Wicca, the emergence of solitary Wicca in the US and how they’ve influenced one another. There will also be discussion of initiation vs self-dedication, hierarchy vs autonomy and finding the right training. By the end, participants will not only have a more accurate understanding of the true differences between the two paths, but foundational guidance for approaching magical groups, and/or walking the solitary path.
The 'Ways Into Witchcraft' series is dedicated to introducing beginners to the main pagan paths, with a particular focus on witchcraft and Wicca. The other events in the series are: Introduction to Pagan Paths (15 April), Where Wicca Came From (3 June), Introduction to Magical Ritual (17 Jun) and Witchcraft’s Big Ideas (15 July).
