About The Event

Madeline Montalban (1910–1982) was once described as ‘the most powerful magician in London’ – a formidable occultist whose legacy continues into the 21st century.

In this online lecture, Julia Phillips explores the life, work and influence of Montalban, founder of the Order of the Morning Star. Drawing on years of research as her authorised biographer, Julia discusses Madeline’s distinctive approach to angelic and planetary magic, her teachings on talismans and astrological timing, and the enduring influence of her magical system within the Western Esoteric tradition.

Julia Phillips is a writer, researcher and magical practitioner whose work has focused extensively on the occultist Madeline Montalban. An Honorary Senior Research Associate at the University of Bristol, Julia gained her PhD studying witchcraft and the press in Victorian Britain, and has taught and presented internationally on Western esotericism and occult history.
