About The Event
The summer solstice has long been considered a time of magic, danger and enchantment – rich with folklore, ritual and story.
In this in-person workshop, Bernadette Russell invites participants to draw on the magic of the summer solstice to write their own creative pieces. Beginning with midsummer customs – from hilltop bonfires and fire-leaping to offerings for faeries and love divination – the session then turns to books and films inspired by the season, including The Wicker Man, Midsommar and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. The group then moves into a series of prompts and free writing exercises to inspire original work. Suitable for both experienced and new writers, participants will leave with fresh ideas, new pieces of writing, and their own seasonal spells for love or protection.
