Paganism Persisting – In-Conversation & Soirée

Paganism has revived numerous times in Europe since the rise of Christianity.

In this in-person conversation, scholar Robin Douglas joins Christina on the Treadwell's sofa to discuss the persistence of pagan traditions across the centuries. From late antiquity to the twentieth century, there have been repeated attempts to revive pre-Christian beliefs and practices within an overwhelmingly Christian culture. These revived paganisms took many forms – rational and romantic, mystical and occult, scholarly and nationalistic – shedding new and unexpected light on Europe’s past. The evening marks the paperback launch of Robin's book Paganism Persisting (co-authored with Francis Young), with a drinks reception and book signing to follow.
