About The Event

In this thoughful, lively lecture, Julian Vayne dives into the hot topic of the year:  magical cultures in connection to concepts of gender, polarity, sexuality and trans identity. He shares a couple of the world's sacred gender-bending myths and talks about some trans-positive magico-cultural spaces. Tales of exclusion and the repression of queer magic are shared, too. He outlines the heteronormative ideas which were prevalent in  20th century occulture, relating how they were challenged by practitioners of the time. The question is raised: what can gender fluidity offer the spiritual development of our species?

Julian Vayne is an occultist over 35 years’ experience. His work is informed by chaos magic, and by lineages in Wicca and Tantra. A regular workshop leader and speaker, Julian is also a co-organizer of the psychedelic conference Breaking Convention, and he sits on the board of The Journal of Psychedelic Studies. His books, essays and articles are published in both the academic and esoteric press. Site: julianvayne.com
