About The Event

In this second 'Magic in Folk Song' class,  Hannah Sanders explores shapeshifting and plant magic. In the tradition, flowers, posies and trees have symbolic meanings and occult powers.  It also speaks to a capacity for humans to become Other - ghosts shapeshifters and spirits . She shows how the musical, symbolic  language of transformation that still resonates deeply today, looking at Reynardine,  The Three Ravens, the Two Sisters / Binnorie, The Elfin Knight, and others. Hannah guides attendees to listen deeply, meditate and discuss. She also brings the themes into hands-on workings. 

Recently signed to the prestigious Topic Records, Hannah Sanders has been a singer of traditional songs since her teens, Over the last six years she has released three studio albums of folk songs to critical acclaim, and has toured across three continents with her duo Hannah Sanders & Ben Savage. She also has a doctorate in anthropology, and worked as a university lecturer for ten years in the United States.

Founded in 2004, Folk Radio UK is an online folk music journal featuring album reviews, news, interviews as well as regular music shows. They have has been recommended by the likes of The Guardian, The Independent and BBC 6 Music.
