Real Magic in Folk Song - Workshop

This class explores occulted meanings lurking in the shadows of the British folk song tradition.  Hannah Sanders looks at five songs, uncovering their motifs of magic and folklore: spells, the Otherworld, the ritual year, enchanted animals and shapeshifting. She teaches attendees how to listen deeply, leads discussion, and guides meditations. She leads the class in a knot spell, a herbal enchantment and a written charm, to bring music's themes into hands-on workings.         Recently signed to the prestigious Topic Records, Hannah Sanders has been a singer of traditional songs since her teens, Over the last six years Hannah has released three studio albums of folk songs to critical acclaim, and has toured across three continents with her duo Hannah Sanders & Ben Savage. She also has a doctorate in anthropology, and worked as a university lecturer for ten years in the United States.
