Seidr, A Northern European Shamanism - Lecture

Andre Henriques brings over a decade's experience to this live lecture introducing the old Scandinavian shamanic oracle practice, seidr. He examines the Old Norse and other early written sources, then turns to the development of neo-shamanism in the 20th century; these two elements came together to make a revival of the ancient practice in modern form. Seidr involves chant, invocation, trance, possession, and oracular speech, and Andre will  also talk about how it works, and what it is like to perform it. Q & A follows, so everyone can ask questions. 

Andre Henriques has participated in seidr ceremonies for many years, and has also pursued academic research for his MA dissertation on ‘Seidr Cosmologies: Oracular practices and personal cosmologies of contemporary Norse-inspired Pagans’.  He's a warm and engaging speaker.
