About The Event
From hobs to brownies, British folklore is full of stories about house-dwelling spirits. These guardians follow families, protect households and ward off misfortune.
In this online class, Hannah Sanders introduces students to the spirits of the home, including hobs, brownies and boggarts. The session explores traditional home charms for protection and wellbeing during the winter months. Guided by Hannah, students craft invocations and offerings to make contact, and learn the proper ways to engage respectfully with these often-overlooked inhabitants. By the end of the class, everyone will know how to work with household spirits to foster protection and harmony in the home.
Hannah Sanders has a doctorate in anthropology and is a longstanding practitioner of folk and herb magic. She was the last apprentice of writer and tarot reader Joyce Collin-Smith, and she is the granddaughter of a well-known Irish fortune teller. Professionally, she is a traditional folk singer.
