About The Event
Come and explore the inspiration behind Wardruna’s haunting music, from runes and Old Norse cosmology, to archaeology and the Old Rune Poems.
Einar Selvik, Wardruna’s frontman, frequently mentions the need to form solid roots in history and archaeology – a clear understanding of old traditions and ancestral wisdom – in order to build something new, that will stand the test of time. In this unique 2-part class, scholar and Heathen practitioner Andre Henriques leads an investigation into the beloved Norse band's influences and inspirations. It includes discussions on what we actually know about the runes, from archaeology and the Rune Poems, to modern pagan meanings, and how Wardruna cleverly navigated through the waves of the Old Norse tradition and their own impressions, to arrive to the three rune albums that started their epic journey through the music scene.
