About The Event
The imagery of alchemy has inspired artists, poets and thinkers for centuries – and continues to do so today.
In this in-person illustrated lecture, Eliza Swann brings to life the symbols of alchemical manuscripts from the fifteenth century onwards. Swann explores figures such as the green lion, peacock, silver queen and solar king, showing how these images functioned as initiatory tools to awaken new ways of seeing, and how this visual language shapes artistic imagination today. Open to all levels, this talk offers a clear and engaging introduction to alchemical symbolism. The evening celebrates the launch of Swann’s new book The Alchemical Imagination: Creativity as Catalyst for Radical Transformation, with signed copies available on the night.
