About The Event

Join us for this Midsummer Night's Dreaming, a magical conversation between Emily Carding and Julian Vayne. We'll be talking about the relationship between theatre, performance and magic, from private ceremonies to public ritual events. It being the solstice we'll also be welcoming the faery folk; exploring how these beings are understood by humans and how we might develop our magical relationship with them. An interactive Q&A is part of the evening. Please join us for an enchanting evening of conversation.

Emily Carding is an actor, writer and artist best known for their award-winning Shakespearean performances, innovative tarot creations and books. They hold a degree in theatre arts from Bretton Hall and an MFA in Staging Shakespeare from the University of Exeter and are a keybearer for the Covenant of Hekate. You might also have seen them screaming in Martin Freeman’s face in the British horror movie Ghost Stories. Julian Vayne is an occultist, writer and workshop leader whose work emphasises embodiment and aims to cultivate an approach to magic which blends intellectual knowledge with intuitive understanding. Julian has been an advisor to occult themed stage and film productions, has led large scale public rituals and in 2009 incarnated as Baphomet during  Antony Gormley's Fourth Plinth installation in Trafalgar Square
