About The Event
What did Renaissance period magicians actually do? What were they hoping to achieve from their rites and rituals?
In this in-person event, author Rachel Morris sits on the sofa with Treadwell's guiding spirit, Christina Oakley Harrington, and chats through the 'years of the wizard'. Bringing the magicians of the Early Modern period to life, Rachel touches on the more mundane aspects of their careers: how they paid their bills, how their wives put up with them and what dangers they faced. As ever, we open the floor for Q&A before moving on to the drinks soirée with author book signing.
This evening celebrates Rachel Morris' new release, The Years of the Wizard: the Strange History and Home Life of Renaissance Magicians (September Publishing, an imprint of Duckworth). A highly atmospheric and readable exploration of the charismatic magicians of the Tudor and Renaissance courts, it brings a refreshing focus on the wives…
