About The Event
Lady Frieda Harris is the artist behind Aleister Crowley's ground-breaking Thoth tarot. Yet most studies of the deck focus primarily on Crowley's vision, neglecting to portray the full scope of their collaboration.
In this in-person event at Treadwell's, Deja Whitehouse joins Christina on the sofa to discuss the life and works of Frieda Harris. Following prompts and questions from Christina, and drawing from her new critical analysis of Crowley and Harris's partnership, The Lady and the Beast, Whitehouse presents a picture of the artist's full influence on Western Esotericism. She argues that Harris' contribution to the deck extends far beyond her creation of the artwork, and that the Book of Thoth would not exist without it. After the interview, the audience has a chance to ask questions. A drinks party on the shop floor with complimentary wine and soft drinks follows.
