About The Event

Hekate, torch-bearing goddess of crossroads and witchcraft, was revered in the ancient world and remains central to modern magical practice.

In this in-person workshop, classical scholar and long-time devotee Jules McArthur explores the mystery and practical magic surrounding this powerful goddess. Participants learn about Hekate’s origins in ancient Greek religion, her development into a patroness of sorcery, and her role in the Greek Magical Papyri and other late antique sources. Drawing on surviving spells, the group considers how these rites can be adapted for modern use. Participants then create a triangle of conjuration based on an ancient example from Sardis, before taking part in a guided ritual encounter. By the end of the workshop, everyone will have a clear framework for working with Hekate through historically grounded magical practice.

Jules McArthur has devoted their life to the study and practice of ancient magic. As a Wiccan priestex, practising magician, tarot…
