About The Event
The winter solstice has been marked in many ways across many cultures. Ancient Rome, Anglo-Saxon England and medieval Europe all had their particular pagan and magical rites -- and so did other cultures. Hannah Sanders details the living folklore of European greening traditions, so attendees can learn old-style home magic of the Yuletide Season. She discusses and demonstrates evergreen wreaths, yule logs and enchanted decorations, with both history, folklore, magical information and hands-on crafting.
Hannah Sanders has a doctorate in anthropology and is a longstanding practitioner of folk and herb magic. She was the last apprentice of writer and tarot reader Joyce Collin-Smith, and she is the granddaughter of a well-known Irish fortune teller. Professionally, she is a traditional folk singer.
