About The Event
Improvisation is not just for actors and standup comedians.
In this in-person workshop at Treadwell's, Katy Schutte brings it to folklore explorers, spell-casting witches, ritual magicians, yoga buffs, storytellers, and the enthusiastically curious. Starting with a story from London occult folklore, she takes the class into chats, scenes and exercises of improv – a form which cultivates movement and voice while liberating the storytelling imagination. No previous experience is expected; just bring willingness to experiment.
Runs 7pm to 9.15 pm, max 14 places. Please wear comfortable clothes.
Katy Schutte is a theatrical improvisation practitioner with 20 years of global experience teaching, directing, coaching and performing. Her engagement with the communities of Druidry, witchcraft and folk magic allow her to relate improv to ritual, spellwork and nature-connection. Katy is author of The Improviser's Way: A Long Form Workbook (Nick Hern Books). She is a folklorist-in-training and artist in residence at Treadwell's.
