About The Event
Plants have long been associated with healing, magic and transformation – making them a rich resource for creative writing.
In this online workshop, Bernadette Russell invites participants to draw on the world of plant lore and myth to write their own creative pieces. Beginning with familiar herbs such as chamomile and peppermint, the session then turns to plants with deeper magical associations – including rose, sage and mugwort. Along the way, the group considers the plants' stories, symbolism and histories, as well as the figures who have worked with them – from witches and faeries to herbalists. Afterwards, there will be prompts and free writing exercises to help participants create their own tales inspired by plant magic.
Bernadette Russell is an author and professional storyteller who has studied myth and folklore with Dr Martin Shaw at the West Country School of Myth, as well as with Sharon Blackie and Jonathan…
