About The Event
The act of using oils and ointments are woven into the magical arts across time and tradition.
In this online workshop, green witch Hannah Sanders teaches students how to blend sacred oils and ointments. Frequently used to confer special significance to a person, place or object, this ancient art can be used for everything from the consecration of tools to dressing the body for acts of magic (such as flying ointment). Designed for both the beginner and experienced practitioner, expect to blend several types of oil and learn a core skill in magical practice.
Students will craft: Dreaming Oil, Dressing Oil, Blessing Oil
Please bring lard, salt and mint. Optional: sunflower oil/almond oil and vervain.
The ‘Materials of Magic’ workshop series teaches participants how to build a personal magical apothecary. (They are designed to be drop-in workshops, so you don't need to attend all of them.) The events in the series are: Making Magical Inks (18 Sep), Making Magical Salts (2 October), and Making Magical Washes (23 October). If the event has passed and you'd like to catch up, please contact onlineshop@treadwells-london.com to access delayed viewing.
Hannah Sanders has a doctorate in anthropology and is a longstanding practitioner of folk and herb magic. She was the last apprentice of writer and tarot reader Joyce Collin-Smith, and she is the granddaughter of a well-known Irish fortune teller. Professionally, she is a traditional folk singer.
