Mercury Magic Experience - Sound Bath

Nicole Bettencourt Coelho leads a ritualised sound journey to give participatns a direct, deep encounter with the powers of one of the seven sacred planets, formerly called the 'wandering stars. This evening is dedicated to Mercury, ethereal messenger, shape-shifter, traveller between worlds, tricky psychopomp and quickener of spells.  It opens with a hypnotic visualisation enhanced by mercury- themed incenses. It then moves into a meditation in sound, in which each person bathes in  mercurial resonances of gongs, crystal bowls, and shakers.  On the altar, the group then make a tincture, with the appropriate plants immered ceremoniously  in an alcoholic spirit or a non-alcoholic alternative. This is taken home so it can form part of an ongoing meditation. 

• Dress comfortably; you will be lying down for 45 minutes 
• Bring a notebook if you would like to write about your journey afterwards 
• Optional: water bottle, a pillow or blanket, personal comforts / talismans

Nicole Bettencourt Coelho is a musician, sound therapist and sound artist with an interest in semiotics, ritual forms and queer magic. Their work explores sound and visualisation to effect transformation in the context of trance. Projects are geared towards harnessing soundfor people to explore their inner and outer worlds.
