About The Event
From first-footing to wassailing, from Plough Monday to Imbolc, the turn of the calendar year is rich in old practices. These customs help ensure that the light grows and that everyone's well-being is assured throughout the year. Hannah Sanders teaches the New Year and January folk rites, so you can do them today in your daily life. She uses herbs, makes old charms and leads a small ritual.
Hannah has a doctorate in anthropology and is a longstanding practitioner of folk and herb magic. She was the last apprentice of writer and tarot reader Joyce Collin-Smith, and also the granddaughter of a well-known Irish fortune teller. Professionally, she is an acclaimed traditional folk singer.
