Practical Magic: Washes and Baths

Floor washes and holy water are some of the most well-known methods of psychic cleansing and protective magic in the history of kitchen witchery and folk magic across the West. Whether using an aspergil, or adding a little something to their bucket and mop, participants will learn about the cleansing power of water when combined with herbs for magical intent. In this class, participants will make a herbal aspergillum, learn charms for its usage, and also create a herbal bath charm for personal protection. Guided meditation and incantations will be used to honour the ingredients that are blended.  

Participants will need: rosemary, thyme, bay leaves, dill, juniper berries, and sea salt 

Optional: rowan, hyssop, rue

Hannah Sanders has spent almost three decades working in initiatory witchcraft traditions. Professionally, she is an award-winning folk singer and guitarist, and was a founding member of the Norwich Chant Collective. Hannah formerly taught as a university lecturer in the United States, having gained  her PhD in Anthropology, looking at teen witch culture of the 1990s.
