About The Event

'Queering Magic' workshops centre on magical practices inclusive of queer identity and non-patriarchal ways of thinking.

This first workshop is devoted to stories and narratives. Nicole leads a discussion in which those attending discuss their experiences of reading historical practices. Nicole then opens up ways for people to 'hack' these narratives, to find new, more inclusive ways to engage with them. Participants learn how to work magically with narrative to create a form of personal expression based around story-telling and ritual.  The sesssion also gives guidance on how to build a ritual practice fit to feed into a writing practice, a personal, queer magical framework populated with personal symbols and spirits. Participants will need: A journal

Nicole Bettencourt Coelho is a sound therapist, hypnotherapist and professional musician with an interest in semiotics, ritual forms and queering magic. Their work explores sound and visualisation in trance, the harnessing of the impact of sound for the transformation of inner and outer worlds.
