About The Event
Walking Tour – Christina Oakley Harrington
This walk uncovers the hidden and sacred sites of the old London neighbourhood, as you learn about the area’s occultists of the past two centuries — and, just as importantly, their beliefs and practices. Witches of the 1940s, Victorian ceremonialists, Druids, and Edwardian spiritualists lived and convened in this beautiful leafy part of London, famed for its park squares. An engaging and informative walk features insight into London’s occult history, leavened with lively anecdotes and some tragic tales. We promise you’ll never see this part of London the same way again. The event concludes with a complimentary glass of fizz and afternoon cake, back at Treadwells. All attendees receive a souvenir programme noting the key sites and characters of the tour, so as to permit further reading or research.
Christina Oakley Harrington, PhD, FRSA, is a former academic historian with doctorate in History. In 2003 she founded Treadwells as a career shift, but she remains active in research on the British esoteric history — thus she brings three decades of insider knowledge of the esoteric community past and present. Christina is charismatic speaker, and is a sought-after keynote lecturer at conferences; additionally, she an active consultant in the cultural sector, and an occasional writer.
Max 16 attendees. The walk will run rain or shine.
