 In 1960, Robert Graves, author of The White Goddess, was contacted by the high priest of a Hertfordshire coven of witches. For the next eleven years they wrote to each other about witchcraft, ritual, hallucinogenic plants, and the Goddess. In these previously unexplored letters we find Graves telling of his meetings with Gerald Gardner, his disapproval of the American moon landings, and his ideas about the relationship between the White Goddess and the Black Goddess whom he was beginning to discover.
