About The Event

Whether he appears as a man clad in black, an animal or a horned figure, the Dark Man has been a recurring presence down the centuries.

In what promises to be a delicious night of history and folklore, Darrah Mason joins Christina on the sofa to discuss this enigmatic figure. Tracing his origins from accounts in the 12th century to the anecdotes of contemporary witches, Darragh shares highlights of his findings in a wide-ranging conversation to launch his new book. Song of the Dark Man: Father of Witches, Lord of the Crossroads was four years in the making, involving remarkable avenues of research. Expect to explore this much maligned character in many roles, from initiator of witches to bringer of disruption and wildness. Afterwards, a party with complimentary wine and informal conversation takes place on the shopfloor, where Darragh will be signing books.

Darragh Mason is a longstanding friend of Treadwell's. A world traveller with experience of many esoteric practices around the globe, he is also a South Coast dweller who has spend long evenings on heaths – and in pubs – listening to the tales of his companions' experiences with the shadowy realms.
