About The Event
From his earliest years, W. B. Yeats saw poetry and magic as inseparably connected.
Scholars of his literary career are well aware that his poetry continued to develop from his early Celtic Twilight period to his late masterworks. This illustrated lecture presents the parallel, but little studied history of Yeats' magical practice. It begins by discussing his early fascination with Theosophy, membership of the Golden Dawn, and his Celtic Mysteries Order, which was politically revolutionary and rooted in the land. It concludes by examining his involvement in spiritualism, collaboration with his mediumistic wife, Georgie, and the universal gnosis of A Vision.
After the talk, there'll be an audience Q&A followed by complimentary wine and conversation upstairs. Recommended for all those interested in this great poet's esoteric life.
Sally and James North's 'A Season of Irish Magic' comprises three in-person lectures exploring the magic and key occult figures of Ireland. The events…
