About The Event
“I shall go into a hare….”. So said renowned Scottish witch Isabel Gowdie.
In this combined talk, workshop and story-performance at Treadwell's, Joanna Gilar delves into the strange landscape of the witch hare. The group learns about the folklore of this uncanny animal, and hears stories about magic and shape-shifting. Expect tales of magic mirrors that invite us to transform, famous valleys in the British Isles sacred to hares, being saved from hell (and housework) through hare-shifting, and more. The talk will be followed by a workshop which invites everyone to participate in a group storytelling, culminating in the co-creation of a ritualised chant to celebrate the wild power and living fluidity of the witch hare.
