About The Event
For centuries, poet-musicians all over the world have told their people’s stories through song.
In this performance-lecture at Treadwell’s, Muco asks what it truly meant to be a bard, scop, skald or troubadour. He explores how these figures were more than entertainers, often acting as healers, keepers of memory and guides to their communities. Following their traditions from early Europe to Africa, he illustrates a shared global lineage of oral storytelling. He also performs on the inanga – an East African zither – offering the Treadwell’s audience lullabies, ballads, charms, love songs and tales of marvels and magic. Expect an evening of illuminating history and enchanting live performance that reveals the timeless appeal of musical folk art.
