In this creative writing workshop, Bernadette Russell invites students to bring their own undead heroes to life. Beginning by exploring some ancient folktales, the group goes on to discuss some of the most famous bloodsuckers through history – from Vlad the Impaler and Bela Lugosi to Lecretia Borgia. Bernadette then delves into the modern imaginings of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the Twilight series, Let the Right One In and Ann Rices' celebrated novels. Afterwards, there will be prompts and free writing exercises to help students create their own beguiling vampire characters, stories or poems.
